  • Outdoor Cucumbers.

I have 4 Marketmore cucs in large pots. They all have flowers on and 2 of them have tiny cucs.
Is it too early to plant them out yet. They will be under a south west facing wall and have been hardened off in the last 10 days.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I also have a dozen Marketmore, no flowers as yet but I'm waiting till June before I put mine out even though they are an outdoor variety. Cucs are too temperamental for my liking.

Well while I was waiting for a reply I knelt down to plant twomof them( hedging my bets) and the heavens opened with a rumble of thunder thrown in for good measure, so I think its a sign.☺

I wouldnt worry Bario. Theres plenty of time. Think I probably sowed mine too early.

I know on other Cucumber threads I've said that I'm not growing any Cucumbers this year 'cos I always manage to murder them. My mate at work gave me a really healthy plant which I managed to kill within a week, spent the rest of the growing season lying to him telling him how well it was growing and ended up hating him when he started to bring in his glut of Cuc's to work.

Had a delivery of free plants today and it contained 3 Cucumber plants called patio snacker, I'll let you know if I manage to murder these as well as I have a good track record of killing them quickly.

My cucumbers apart from the marketmore which have not germinated are growing like mad, the Burpless are nearly ready to be potted on. Until I read this thread I didn't realise they could be as temperamental or hard to grow. The last two years must have been beginners luck

Mine only have their seed leaves but that doesn't matter because they'll be living in the bedroom until the end of the month.
