  • Net cloche system for next year - home made?

Id rather make my own for my brassicas. I see some but assume the wind and rain we get a light use one may not be robust enough. We are very hands on here and can fabricate. Has anyone come across anything or know/done anything with tubes? How do you weed? I can then purchase the mesh separately. Thanks

A few years ago I used - Tower Conduit Heavy Gauge 20mm x 3m White (60m) Pack of 20 | Plastic Conduit & Acc | Screwfix.com- to make these, they were 8ft x 4ft and I just lifted one side & propped them up on timber supports. I did not use them in winter so I turned them upside down so any snow would not weigh down the netting.

I bought some plastic canes from lidl (they sell them most places/shops that have a plant section) then stuck one in each corner and one in the middle of each bed, put bottles on the top of each cane and then used builders scaffolding/ rubbish mesh on top. To fasten it down I got tent pegs from the pound shop. Works a treat!

Old gazebo tubular steel frame. Just used enough for three verticals per side, two across the top at each side and blue water pipe across the top in a hoop and secured in the middle with a block of wood.

Its about 1.8m high at the edges, more in the centre and 2m square.

Have a look on freecycle for an old gazebo...
