I'm guessing you are going to need to jerry rig a bracket fixed off the frame that has a hole in it that lines up with one on the door, or do what I do and insert a timber batten behind the door on top of the bottom runner so it can't slide open without removing the timber. Most people are too thick to work it out and you could always rig up something you can use a lock on to keep it in place.

Bren ^^^^ So why do we all lock our front doors and houses when we go out because it's a deterrent and we don't make it easy and hopefully someone sees them trying to get in and they get caught. It's the same with sheds on the allotment, some that have been leaving their sheds open on our allotment have now decided to lock them because a lot of these scumbags are also lazy and would rather go onto the next unlocked shed rather than break into a locked one.Last edited by Cadalot; 29-11-2016, 03:36 PM.

My greenhouses are all capable of being "locked" although I don't actually lock them. When the door is slid shut drill a hole in the top of the slider that you can fit the shank of a padlock through. The door cannot pass it.
I usually just drop a fat 6" nail through the hole to stop next doors dog opening the door and pinching my cherry tomatoes as he would make himself ill.

Drill a hole in the door runner (some greenhouses already have them) and just pop a padlock through it. By door runner I mean the long channel that the rollers run in at the top.

[QUOTE=veggiechicken;1498810]A GH isn't a shed
I would love to come across "considerate " burglars and although most of the lowlife around here are happy to pinch soft drinks, Pot Noodles instant coffee etc from sheds I don't think most of them would know what to do with a real vegetable out of a greenhouse.

in my site few greenhouses are locked and few are not. unlocked green house in the front part of lotty are like front garden at home. passers by can have more fruit than us. I want to put my greenhouse at the front of lotty to be accessible to water easy but this is the issue stopping me. I would be moving them to the back where I have shed. should not plant many as water is precious at that end

Guess it depends on what type of burglar you get on the site. A lock would probably put off the casual passerby-thief so it sounds like it could work for Elfeda.
A more determined thief will just break the glass - but that is more effort and presumably a little more risky. Without going into the usual discussion of land-mines and traps all I can say is that you have to know where to put your feet if you venture into my GH. :0sigpic
