Greenhouse glazing for B&Q greenhouse

Hi Folks,

I've a bit of a chicken/egg scenario with my greenhouse presently; which sounds odd, but let me explain...

I bought what I believe to be a bargain from B&Q last year where they were selling off a bunch of frame/base combos (less the glazing) for rock bottom prices (£25!) - See link below:-

I want to get the greenhouse up in the next few weeks as I've a suitable electrical supply to an adjacent shed and want to provide some heating to get some crops underway in the relative indoors until they can be moved to the cold frame and ultimately the beds which I plan to have turned over and ready for crop by March-ish.

Herein lies the issue:-

I need to source some glazing and the instructions do not stipulate what width glazing is required, although it shows the relative sizings for each pane.

I could erect the frame and take some measurements from the glazing bars, but I plan to order twinwall from an online supplier that cuts to size and wouldn't want to greenhouse exposed for too long without being sealed.

As such I've had some of the glazing bars out of the box, but this has lead to more confusion due to a) having never erected a greenhouse before and b) from what measurements I have taken it could be 10mm or it could be less.

This has left me very confused!

Has anyone had any experience with the same greenhouse or similar from the same range that might be able to give me some clues.

Generic advice also welcome!

A couple of things, check to see that the one you have can actually carry glass, there were two types one used polycarbonate sheeting and the other glass. I managed to get them at a £5 each and have one of each type and I'm going to use them both as fruit cages.

The only paperwork I had included in the packaging related to the glazing is attached.

Not this refers to 'glass' and 'glass packs', however I'm not putting money on B&Q being so specific, this could simply be a generic term for the glazing...

I'm assuming you can put poly in a glass, but not the other way around? - I'm basing this on the fact that people are forever swapping glass for plastic in traditional greenhouses?

Hi Ryan, I have a silver one from B&Q and "glazed" it with twin wall polycarb.
Bought a pack of sheets and cut them to fit.

I too have some of those frames and also bought 6 packs of twinwall polycorb from ebay. not sure how easy or tricky to fit with twin wall polycorb yet.

Fitting Polycarb is a lot easier to fit than glass, simply cut along a metal straight edge with a stanley knife, turn it over, fold & cut the back of the fold as you would plasterboard. For your greenhouse you will need 610mm x 1220mm (4ft x 2ft) - 4mm twin wall polycarb sheets so just work out how many panels you need.

Thanks all, I went for the 4mm twinwall in the end and got all I needed from a supplier on Amazon for £65...so all in with the frame/base £90...bargain!

The 30+ page thread on the topic from 2014 really helped as well although in hindsight there should have been a breakout thread for praising VC on her great work with the 3 frames/netting/carpet grip as that took up a good 5 pages! LOL!

And you must have mentioned the box in your garage at least a handful of times as well Nanny!

If the frame is not designed for polycarb just use clear sealant and stick it in.

Oh and why do I never see these bargains.
