[QUOTE=Scarlet;1507818]Ivegot grape envy ...I'm still not sure I'd wanna use my tomato space but tell me
A lot depends on the variety, some varieties will never give big grapes, but I thin the bunches to about one per linear foot and then I thin the grapes in the bunches. You need to remove far more than you think or the grapes in the middle end up squashed (and square). I used to pollinate the flowers with a paintbrush until I realised I was just making work for myself and even if I just let them pollinate themselves there was still far too many grapes in the bunches.

My old greenhouse has a peak 10 foot high so the grapevine in the eves has little effect on the tomatoes grown beneath. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

hi all,im slightly confused (quiet normal for a sun morning) all the grape growing videos ive seen on the you tubes has the vines grown in a "T" shape about 1-2 foot off the floor and the any growth goes up vertically and the grapes grow on the new vertical growth as its trimmed back down to the "T" each winter but all of yours grow up to the top of your greenhouses and then along (they look v impressive and thanks to all for the pictures) so does the glass in your gh`s stop the vetical growth or do you summer prune ? i have more questions now that i did before i started reading this thread ,not sure what to do with my new cabernet sauvingon vine now ,cheersThe Dude abides.

Hi all and many many thanks for the fotos, im deffinatley gonna give it a go in the greenhouse having seen those.
Im gonna grow it in a big pot and keep it at the back and run two arms from side to side, thatll leave the front for my toms.
If it doesnt work out at least ive tried, got my Black Hamburg from Wyevale for 6 quid , happy days.

TBL the reason they grow them in 'T's" is if you are actually setting up a line as in a "Vinyard" but for other purposes, just train a single main stem and tie it in where you want it!
But as "Greenishfing" (Fing fing fing ya clown) states, you do have to hack it back a lot throughout the season!
Jack! If possible? If ya giving it a bash, try bury it's roots outside the greenhouse and feed the main stem in, as the root prefer to be out in the cold!
