hi all i have been getting my greenhouse (an 8 x 6 with polywhatdoyoucallit pannels ,were not allowed glass) ready to move up the plot and as my allotment is on the top of a hill it will get hit by winds i was wondering what you all do to stop these pannels from blowing away ? i have lots of the clips to hold the pannels in and altho its abit of a pain i was thinking of taking the pannels out again at the end of the season and store them in the shed ,i have heard of people gluing pannels in ,putting diagonal bars across the pannels to stop them flexing and even netting over the gh to keep it together ,ant of you who have this problem what have you done to over come this ? any thoughts welcome ,cheers

I've got a few polythingamebobs in my GH at home - half a mile from the coast - I've ended up drilling through them into the aluminium frame then using some bolts/washers to keep them in place.
My plot is off a road called Windmill Lane - about 1 mile from the north devon coast at the top of a hill. Up there I have a cheapo plastic GH that is now half clad in pallet wood and battens - both inside and out - screwed through the plastic. Its really not pretty - even I wouldn't have it at home - but this £25 beast is still standingsigpic

Many folk use silicone to seal the panels in..............me?.........I use horizontal canes between the glazing bars, one in the top, middle & bottom. Make the cane a couple of mm wider than the polycarb so they are a tight fit.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I found silicone alone wanst enough - needed something - cane or whatnot - behind the carb to stop it flexing too much - if it did then it tended to pop out of the silicone. Though it was poundland silicone so maybe that was why...sigpic

Mrs Baldrs always goes on about this sort of thing - are you related Deano? - she has a particular bee in her bonnet about bin bags...cheap ones are carp, but use two if need be - as Spinal Tap said 'double bag it'
