Just wondered cos IM GETTING A GREENHOUSE TOMORROW! Good 'ol freecycle came through and everyone's a winner. Nice size of 8x6, by trial and error I'll have it built up to its former glory in no time! (Or realistically after a few hours of swearing at it, using the wrong tools, mislaying tools then deciding it's not level it's in the wrong location and having to source new parts for stuff I'll break during the process which will probably cost more than what a greenhouse would).

But I can't wait!

It's always exiting putting up a greenhouse for the first time, and it'll feel great when you start getting your seedlings in there.

You must have been quick to have got one on freecycle, nice one!!

Congrats Mic its not sad to be excited at all my GH was a freebie from my next door neighbour I didn't even think I'd got space in the garden for one until he offered me his unwanted GH. Enjoy yours

Update. As always, nothing goes to plan.
Arrived to collect GH already dismantled ready load. That's good. Untill I get home and it's now a giant alloy jigsaw. In usual freecycle style, there are nuts and bolts missing and the odd bent bit.
The decision to get a greenhouse and actually picking one up was literally a couple of days.... the ground isn't level where I 'think' I want it, and as always it's taken much longer to put together than expected.

So now I've got a dirty alloy frame with missing blots constructed in the garden ready for additional bolts tomorrow along with a jet wash to try clean off the mould sat on it. The window rubbers are all perished and worn so looks like I'll use lots of mastic to seal them in place, then clean down each glass one at a time before putting into place.

You can buy the replacement foam strips. I would not advise mastic!

I have just gone through the process of dismantling and erecting an 8x10, do not underestimate the commitment! The glass took ages to wash, and my hands were very sore afterwards.

Spare bolts can be found quite cheaply online, as can the Z and G (or W) clips.

just a thought, the GH will probably go against a large shed to get most sun. As its missing a couple of glass panels (apparently) I was going to board up the 4 sections against the shed.
If I got creative, would it be worth glueing tin foil to the wood in the inside to help with the heat?! so it would in effect be a wall of shiny silver?

Get some cropped head bolts. They're useful if you forget to put a bolt in and to insert a normal one would need a lot of dismantling.

They're also useful for fitting shelves and tying string and wire to.

The old windows and doors in my house have mastic and when it gets hot it dribbles out.
Looks dreadful, dirt sticks to it, you end up cutting off the dribbles and finally end up with a sticky pane and another void.
I'd go with foam strips too.
