'View from the Greenhouse / Polytunnel door 2018'

There wasn't a new 2018 thread for this so I created one.

I took a few pics today of the tunnel.

I managed to grab some extra pots for my automatic watering system setup - off ebay - so I have that to set up yet. That's the square green pots. Just need to buy a connector to tap into my current tank and I should be good to go.

Another picture of some empty beds. The central one is all for tomatoes this year - I'm thinking two rows of 15 plants should fill it.

And a picture of some pots.. which isn't that exciting but they are clean

The autopot system is not cheap - but last year both the yield and size of the chilis from that system were twice that from hand watering so I think they are worth it.

That looks great, all I've done in the greenhouse is prune the plants in pots where the tops have died off, will nip out now for a look before it gets dark.
Cold and wet out there, only 3 degrees inside the greenhouse, but there's still a single flower on the marigold that I took out of a pot and plunged into the border.

Plans are afoot in the polytunnel, think I've put off making proper beds for long enough.

Not a lot going on right now...

Mess... and some strawbs that I dug up a few weeks back - they'll go in baskets for an early crop.



The Spring greens will take off soon. The Spring onions look a bit ragged, not sure they're really made for overwintering.

I just cut back some plants I wanted to over winter. A chilli plant and some yukomis. I sectioned off a 4x6 area with big heavy duty plastic ( where the water barrels are) to try and keep an area warmer. It never got down below freezing in there. Otherwise I washed it all out in November all ready for this year.

I am still very new to all of this. I only just got my greenhouse last summer. I find it all very therapeutic for helping me with depression. Sometimes I don’t even know if something will work or not. I’m just learning as I go along I guess. I am feeling quite excited about getting started this spring.....

Sometimes, trying things is the best way of finding out what works for you. You can read all the books under the sun, but nothing beats having a go yourself.
Not everything you try to grow will be a success but when it is, its a great feeling. If it doesn't work, try a different way next time.
I'm still learning and experimenting - its all part of the fun.

Just one thing missing from your greenhouses VC...puppies! There is usually one hanging around.
