Regular readers may know I have 3 green houses at the mo..
One large glass one and two smaller polycarbonate ones; all lean to types..
My Mam wants rid of her current glass house which is about 76" by 125"..
Thinking about taking it and using it to replace the 2 polycarbon ones, one of which got a fair battering in Storm Ophelia..
Plenty of work involved including possibly stripping the existing glasshouse and swapping its location so the new one can take its location.
    Hmmm😁 Do I need this??
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

My mum definitely wants rid of it regardless of whether I take it or not, so I do have it stripped of glass already and have labelled most of the panes..A good few broken panes on her greenhouse too..

GH frames make great fruit/brassica cages - if covered in netting. Don't have to worry about glazing it them1

Obviously need to think about transport for it too because altho I didn't mind taking the glass out, I am not taking the frame apart

I moved my greenhouse from Glasgow to Wigtown.

Get a Power Screwdriver and a 10mm (I think) Nut driver and it will be apart in no time.

If you have a roof rack (or can borrow a friend with one) then strip off the roof and break down to 4 sides, Base Kit. and bundle of roof bars.

This is how I did it...

I had to take the Glass out anyway clean and put it back in. That is where most of the time, care and the risky bit (with old glass). Used a small flat blade screwdriver to just flick the clip out. Beats all the blood on fingers... Then took an hour or so to break down. Took me about half a day to rebuild, and at the same time you can give it a very good clean with Jayes

Have a few spare nuts and bolts and Glazing clips and Z's and a few angle brackets for running new supports and the job is a good one.

Like VC says, you never have enough covered space.
                Remove sides for Cloche,
Cut side lengths for Cold Frames.
Perhaps they will fit Back to Back for Fruit Cages

                All best

The title of the thread "New Project" makes me think you've already made up your mind, Trip.
Go for it - you know you want to.

In post 2 Trip has already stripped the Glass, (I hadn't read it fully). It would not surprise me if that also means - moved to back door for safe keeping

                        That boat has left...

Not that far to be honest; about 1.5km but narrow roads...all doable once I source a wide enough trailer I suppose..

Well, now that you say it, I have moved some of the stripped glass to my garage already for safe keeping

Not that anything should be inferred from that

I'd probably partly dismantle it, as has already been suggested, just to make it easier to load - say take it down to 6 flat sections. I find an angle- grinder will get the job done pretty smartish - albeit it might be necessary fabricate a few joining brackets to put it back together again. :-)
