Currently building my new tunnel. It has been up 2 weeks and was very hot. However today the wind got up and the net ventilation did little to calm the wind.

Was thinking tonight that perhaps I should convert doors to full plastic and remove the vent - reducing the risk of wind damage.

How do you control the wind in net vented doors?

Still trying to resolve the polytunnel door issue.


Like SP I have lots of wind. Doors were completed with netting to allow ventilation.

Don't think this will work because of the wind, so tried to create a blind with 22mm copper as a roller. See picture above - Right door.

Used 25mm Blue poly pipe as clips to hold plastic to roller and once rolled up to a level, a 25mm poly clip to hold it in place. This works to a degree, but flaps about.

Needs railing or something - ideas?

I've also tried plastic over half of netting with the W clips holding it in place, but that is a bit of a faff to adjust.

When the doors are open, lots of horse flies and midges invade. A bit like out of Africa ( crickets in the night) only it is tap tap tap as the fly into the plastic trying to get out. and it is all the time.


NB. Bottom of netting will be trimmed off once door design final.
