Not much done at the plot today. Harvested some Mange tout peas and watered up, that was about it.

After watering and feeding stuff in the greenhouse I harvested a mixed batch of yellow, tigerella and Ailsa Craig tomatoes.
I lifted about a quarter of my Japanese onions and was just able to carry them in a Te*co* delivery crate.
Hoed over the area they had been in and hoed some of the pathways until I got sick.
Very windy at plot so tied up my JA's with two lengths of clothes line fastened to the fence as the wind had battered them downMy Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Called at the plot yesterday to drop off some veg peelings for the compost bin. Rightly or wrongly I also included mussel shells which are calcium based methinks. They probably won't break down but I can smash them up when I harvest he compost.
Watered up when I was there and noticed a bit of mould on my cucumber plants lower leaves. I put this down to the moisture in the air with the rain we have had and the shortage of sunshine plus low temperatures.
Late turnip crop is a failure as slugs have wiped out seedlings as they germinated.
Harvested a bucket full of broad beans while I was there. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

We leave oyster and mussel shells out in the sun , wind, rain etc for several months . They are then easy to crush.
We give the oyster shells to the chooks but I read somewhere that mussels absorb high quantities of heavy metals or something(????) so I'm not so sure really whether I should be using them?????"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I meant to mention to you that I use a decoy Peregrine Falcon on top of my clothes line post and move it to the other post every 4 weeks or so, it has kept most of the pigeons away but I still have to net them because I also have loads of wild rabbits as neighbors. The netting has done a good job of keeping the white butterfly away. Though when I pulled a few leaves this evening there were what looked like very fresh eggs which I subsequently power washed off with the garden hose.
