      If you are stuck for a shop you could go for a Thai meal and try chatting up the staff. They might let you have some from kitchen.

        Before letting my bigger ginger plant start into growth again, I've split it. It was bending and distorting the 8" pot it was in, and I didn't want to put it into a bigger pot as it resides on the windowsill and only just fits.
        So from a two ounce piece of ginger planted at the start of summer last year, I now have a four ounce root ready to grow, back in its slightly stretched pot, and a four and a half ounce piece ready to use and eat. (The apple is for scale, a big coxes orange pippin)
