I'm so very sorry, Billy's Lad. I think what you're doing is a wonderful idea to commemorate your dad.

Just some random suggestions for promotion...

Posters up in local garden centres
Articles/ads in local free papers
An article about allotments and your Dad in the local County Life magazine
Local radio are usually very keen for interviewees and local interest stories?
Advertise through freegle/f@cebook selling pages etc.

What a wonderful dad he was, and you've got all those memories and the lessons he taught you that will stay with you forever. Why not plant a tree or get a hardwood bench in his memory perhaps with a nice plaque.

many thanks everyone for your kind words I have been and cleared my remaining tom plants from the greenhouse this afternoon and moved his Agapanthus inside , I tipped the growbags onto the potato patch as a bit of a mulch

I am planning to plant a few hedging plants in his memory my thinking is that he wont be alone then as opposed to a lone tree

Sorry to hear your sad news. I have a couple of large pot plants, one from my late nan and one from my late mother. They get rather more attention than the others. Only advantage with pots is they can move house.

ATM the town council run things with stuff on their website but again seem very apathetic

Well after a bit of a wait I started crowdfunding to help promote the use of the allotments at Bishops Stortford

Any money raised will be used to promote the uptake of these allotments by way of publicising in the local press , garden centres etc and the town allotment society

Well you may not need any money, start advertising now in the Facebook groups and gardening forums. Don’t hou have a local free paper? They love a little write up. How many plots are you trying to fill? Is your sister keeping one?
