I think the pinches in bed will do better than the seeds in pots.

Jay-ell, I would like to know your definition of a girl
I,doubt there is anyone on the Vine who could class VC as a girl, and before anyone thinks I am being nasty to VC you are wrong as I was taught by my mother to respect my elders, and I try to treat VC with the highest of respectit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Well all the seeds in pots are more tender and need more warmth to germinate than the ones you are sowing in the bed.
And should your greenhouse warm up enough to germinate any of the tender seeds, a sharp frost would do for them while the lettuce etc would stand a good chance of living through it.

I remember being told by an American friend that they used to just chuck a lot of their spring seeds on top of the snow, then left 'em to get on with it. When the snow melts, they get water and germinate.
Try it if it snows; it might not work, but the birdies will be happy.

Thanks VC, you have just reminded me of some seeds I need to get at B&Q seeds sale. Fancy growing mangetout peas again this year. I can't get 'Only Fools And Horses' out of my head when I hear that name.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Week 5
Look closely at Week 1 - mangetout, Wizard bean and a baby tomato seedling. Welcome to my world little Gardener's Delight.
I'm not surprised at the pea or the bean, but I am surprised by the tomato. Its in a cold, lean to GH with the door open overnight. Not ideal tomato germinating conditions. Do we cosset them too much in their heated propagators?
The bag of seeds is for Week 5 - now sown!

I am going to give some Evesham Special sprouts a go along with some All Year Round Cauli's and a cabbage that can be sown now? Any ideas?
I will sow them in one of my raised beds with a double glazing panel over it to give them a bit of shelter. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Go for it!
I've divided up the 6 x10 GH into several "beds" - they're only 4" deep on a solid floor.
Last week (Roots) -sowed carrots and beetroot in a 4x2 bed.
Today (Shoots) sowed spring onions, leeks and onions in 4x2 and oriental salad leaves in 2x2.
Next week (Fruits) it'll be peas in 4x2
The following week (lLeaves) will be kale and lettuce.
After that, I'll either resow each section if there's no sign of life or start on another GH.
BTW, these are all old seeds, past their use by date, so I empty the packets into a jar, give them a stir and chuck them lavishly on the soil.
Don't care, that's me.
