Having suggested to Jay-ell that he sows some broad bean seeds in the same hole as he plants a potato,I've been thinking about other time/space saving combinations to try.
This isn't intercropping but actually sowing together in the same place.
I'm going to sow a few calendula seeds in with the broad beans. Apparently they make good companion plants and I like the thought of broad beans emerging from a sea of orange marigolds. Maybe they'd deter blackfly - who knows?
Lettuce seeds or basil or both when planting out tomato seedlings.
Carrots and chives. Could be fiddly - tiny seeds.
Any more ideas?
