  • Comfrey Quandry

I have taken some Comfrey roots from my old plot to my new plot. I have had no problem with this spreading by seed in the past so can only assume it is the Bocking 14 sterile derivative.

Whilst searching my new plot I have found some Comfrey already on site with a different colour flower. This has pink flowers not purple like stuff at my other plot.

My point is, can you tell what type of Comfrey you have by the flower colour?

If the colour variation doesn't matter I will gladly just grow the two types together

That's the same as the one I have brought with me which I also think is Bocking The one on site is pink flowered but there aint much of it there so wondered whether it was another Bocking variant?

May be common comfrey or it could the time of year affect its colour?

Yes, the common one has pink flowers. I brought some Bocking 14 from my old to my new plot only to find the pink one growing later in the year. I just make sure the flowers go in the rubbish bin as soon as I see them

I'll just use both together then in a single bed.
