    Hello Grapes

I planted some mexican gherkins in a tub and they grew like crazy things under glass but didnt fruit. When I placed them outside they stopped growing and fruited like mad. I got loads of inch length 'fruit?' but not as plump as advertised. I didnt bother removing seeds but pickled them whole in spicy vinager and used them in salads.....devine! However (and there is a point to my tale) they have finished for the season, In chucking them out onto the compost heap I noticed the tub contained loads of tubers like the cross between a spud and an artichoke......my question is are they edible?? And if not do they resprout in the spring? If they do how should they be stored???

Does anyone have an answer? Is there and expert I can contact?

Can you remember where you got the seed from and what it was called. Haven't heard of Mexican gherkins, sound intriguing, they aren't those exploding ones are they????
Hope you get some answers to your query.

        Hi Sue

I bought the seeds from my local Wyvale garden center but they are marked as Eden Project seeds (Sutton Seeds). The biological name is Melothria scabra....and duh I have just noticed the web address so I guess Ill be contacting them.
