  • My Tiny Tim and Windowbox Red have teeny little buds showing. The plants are not very big themselves, so I thought they had a bit of growing to do yet - apparently not!

I've had half of the plants on the windowsill for some weeks, the other half under a growlight. The growlight plants are a little bit bigger. Getting booted soon though, as some seedlings are in more immediate need...
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

    • I have buds coming too! This time last year my seedlings were a week or two old. This year they’re all grown and I’m shifting them into the greenhouse to harden off! I was a little worried that a couple of them were losing a bunch of lower leaves. But I’m planting them in increasingly bigger pots and they seem fine I’m so glad I was inspired by this thread!

        • Going to start planting out the tomatoes this week in my poly-tunnel as the weather forecast is good, and the plants are getting too big for their pots. Some of them are about 30" tall now, and a few have flowers starting to open. I think the led grow-light which I treated myself to at Xmas has helped.

          • Should I be starting to feed my tomatoes that have buds?

depends on where you are growing them really - if in containers, then Yes.

They've been in the GH for a couple of weeks so I've promoted them to their bigger, final pots and my fingers are crossed for some early toms.

Its hard to see but each of the bigger plants has a truss of fruit:

There is another truss of flowers right at the top (out of picture). The plant on the right was sown in February. (The scruffy looking plants in the smaller tray are pea shoots which are nearly finished).

                          • For whatever reason, my early sown tomatoes have been really poor this year.
Some have just died off and others are just sat there doing nothing.
I have treated them the same way they are treated every year.
I am at a loss as to what's gone wrong with them.

Not quite writing them off but I have sown some other varieties today.
Fingers crossed this is not going to be a bad year for me.

                                Think perhaps you're right Scarlet.
Will get some fresh compost over the weekend.
Just so disappointed, but all is not lost.
