August photos
The peas have nearly finished now.
Sungold tomatoes are producing fruit, but nothing ripe yet. The rather tatty looking tomato plant next to the white daisies is a Balconi red which has just finished its first flush of fruit and was moved outside yesterday.
Two slightly older Balconi tomatoes in the green pots, now laden with a 2nd flush of fruit, the odd one of which is turning red. 3 of the 4 quadgrow pots of potatoes have been harvested. More tomatoes in the growhouse, carrots and calabrese under the net. The potatoes on the raised beds are huge and have broken the canes supporting the mesh that was holding them back. The little plant in front of the growhouse is a Chilean Guava.
More rampant potatoes. The Charlotte are starting to die back now. Strawberries and framberries on the shelves have finished fruiting.
Herbs on the path and Ferline tomatoes in the bed. French beans in the bucket are just starting to flower. The cucumbers behind refuse to be trained but are producing loads of fruit (I picked 6 this morning).Last edited by Penellype; 01-08-2019, 10:11 PM.A life is like a garden. I took these photos on Sunday after that 60mph wind. The first photo has a bag of first earlies planted under the table,Ive just cut the tops off yesterday & will harvest soon. The second photo is mainly tomato plants blown altogether, third photo my sweetcorns thin this year new variety incredible (I’m not going to be gullible with names anymore). Fourth photo shows that none of the sunflowers were supported, one was entangled in the bean vine & started pulling the teepee down so I added another cane to save it. One sunflowers really strong. Fifth photo if you zoom in you might see the lantern on the cape gooseberry & peas with carrots in tubs in the background, lots of green tomatoes but we have some sunny days till October,I have topped one tomato plant I’ll probably do more soon but not in the rain (it’s been raining all day here).

September
Balconi tomatoes are in full flow with their 2nd crop, a 3rd flush of fruit is developing.
Sungold tomatoes are beginning to ripen. There are a few apples still on the tree.
Potatoes on the raised beds have been harvested. Carrots under the net and tomatoes in the growhouse are growing well.
Just the Desiree potatoes left to harvest - these have produced enormous long haulms and I am hoping for a decent crop. The wind has ripped the fruit cage net off the top of the frame.
More tomatoes - these are Ferline. French beans in the bucket with copper tape round, cucumbers are beginning to look a bit worse for wear, but still producing fruits.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

October
Still some colour in the garden. The Balconi tomatoes are still producing fruit and I'm pleased with my begonia hanging basket. No idea why the photo is so fuzzy.
Sungold tomatoes are looking a bit worse for wear but still producing fruit. The apricot tree in the corner is not at all happy.
Shirley tomatoes ripening very slowly. More Balconi red in the growhouse. Carrots, calabrese and kale under the net.
All the potatoes have now been harvested so the north facing wall is just being used for storing used compost. Strawberries and framberries on the shelves have about finished. The blueberries are quite decorative at this time of year. The people at the back have recently replaced their fence.
Sungold and Ferline tomatoes are struggling now they get less sunshine but they are producing a few ripe fruit. The cucumbers and beans have finished now.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

A wet day in November
Looking very autumnal. The hanging basket has survived the frost after being covered with fleece, as have 2 of the balconi tomatoes underneath.
The Sungold tomatoes have succumbed to frost but the dahlia is still looking fairly happy.
Begonias and cauliflower seedlings in the growhouse. Still plenty of carrots under the net, plus some spring cabbage and kale. The green pot contains a recently split and repotted hosta. The little chilean guava in front of the growhouse continues to grow and is about 3 times the size it was when it arrived.
Lots of buckets of compost waiting for next year's crops. Strawberries and blueberries looking very wintery now.
Veg garden in need of tidying up, with empty pots and tomato supports littered about. The fluffy green thing bottom left is a florence fennel that is doing ok. There are more carrots under the net at the far end.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

December photos, taken yesterday
Everything looking very wintery now although a few brave daisy flowers are still open. I need to do some tidying up.
The apple tree has lost most of its leaves now. I've insulated the apricot tree's bucket, but I'm not hopeful of getting anything much from this little tree, which was looking very unhappy before it lost its leaves. It might be happier at the allotment. More tidying up needed here, but i have been reluctant to tread on the lawn, which is waterlogged under the frost.
Begonias and cauliflowers in the growhouse. I'm not sure the begonias will survive the winter in the growhouse but I have run out of shelf space in the garage. Plenty of carrots under the net. There is also kale and spring cabbage in there, getting shredded by snails.
General storage area for strawberries and buckets of compost.
A very cold looking veg garden with calabrese and some carrots under the net. More bubble wrap round the pots of apple and pear trees.
The garden gets no sun except on the fence in December, so it remained frozen all day.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
