What I did today - 2019

Woweee....my face looks like CELERIAC today!!!! All puffed up and really not pretty at all hahaha. No pain though and no bleeding from the crater in my gum so I think I can survive looking like the Elephant Woman Perhaps I'll go out later and scare some little kiddies

Writing labels for some heritage veg I'll be sowing on Sunday today ~

It's been raining. So spent the day processing some of last years chilli harvest.

Potting on day, all the chillies now in their final pots, then mowed all the grass before the rain started.

Made 54 planting holes in weed control fabric before the lighter that I was using decided to give up, though it still had some fuel left in it. Using a bulb planter I planted most of my seed potatoes, main crop and second early, into the holes in the weed control fabric, bar 8, as I sill have holes to make for them.

As for my day, I started to clear another side of the GH ready for more tomatoes but the soil was crawling with woodlice and other creepy crawlies. Time to call on the help of my little feathered friends. Mrs Brown and Mrs New-Brown.
After a few crunches of the crawlies, they were sidetracked by the lettuce and chard. Ahh well, I'd intended to clear them out eventually.
It was too cold and wet to do anything outdoors!

Sowed some squash - battened down various hatches up at the plot and then came home

Planted some of my peas out in the raised bed and potted on yet more tomatoes.

Sowed sunflower seeds with the children - they have four seeds each this time, better odds of growing the tallest.
Planted out the rest of the oca into raised bed planters.
Emptied out small compost bin and refilled with new trailer load of horse poo to rot down for next year.

Potted on 3 more chillies into final pots.
Potted on some squash, pumpkins, courgettes, peas, runner beans and dwarf French beans.
Moved lots of peas and beans to the little tunnel.

Sown some more seeds.

Potted on more tomatoes. Sowed more celeriac seeds. Planted out more peas into the bed. My husband started building me a new raised bed. It’s not going to be big but still have exciting.

Oh and I moved some of my borlotti beans into separate pots. They are growing so quickly.

Sowed more sunflowers, zinnia and some verbena bonariensis and verbascum. Filled cardboard bog roll tubes and put Cobra beans to chit.

Sowed some more brussels Trafalgar as germination seems patchy.

Finished the French drain across the front garden which means my herb garden is a step closer.

OK, didn't do much down the plot today - just went down to finish off the pumpkin bed and spread a grass mulch over the manure. Someone had gifted me three money plants that were tucked into my gate when I got there - Whomsoeveryouare thanks.

Popped into b&q afterwards and bought a beefburger with cheese. Honestly - why else would you go there.

OK, whilst there I bought a big bag of compost and a cordyline.

Went home and got changed for a birthday party.

Went out and drank a large amount of liquids in the hydroxyl group.

Got back home and drank more hydroxyls - this time specifically Gin.
