  • Found the chilli, tomato and aubergine seeds I left germinating on the boiler, and hadn’t checked for a couple of weeks. 2 inches high, straggly, light deprived and half collapsed over the edge of their paper pots with thirst - looking as though they were gasping their last....
Watered and put on windowsill - may well have to resow next weekend if they fail to perk up!

Watered the seedlings in the greenhouse, thinned the celery seedlings in the bedroom, and sowed some broccoli too ;-)

    • Hope everyone’s plots are alright in this storm,I just found one of my potato bags out the front, must’ve swept under the fence. I watered my indoor plants & noticed I’ve singed some tomato leaves so I’ve raised the lights a bit higher,I can probably bury those leaves when I pot them on & nobody will know

        • Yesterday we put up a 6x3m chicken run. I’m so excited.
It was blowing a gale and sleeting. I was nervous about taking my socks off afterwards in case a few toes fell out. Yes it was cold.
We still have to put the chicken wire on over the frame. There’s no big hurry as I’m getting surgery this week and won’t be in a fit state to do anything for a while so getting the actual chickens will have to wait a bit. Still it’s a nice goal to aim for.

                • Went to the plot and cleared out the greenhouse, need to get polycarb or glass to replace the missing and broken panels.

Chopped back all the overhanging branches so there's no risk to the roof and then sorted out all the broken bits of glass into a pile.

Moved the odd heap of stuff into 4 daleks after taking out all the plastic, metal and big branches. Put down some plastic over the weeds that I wanted to clear with the brush cutter but didn't get chance to.

Took 5 bags of old carpet Nd broken plastic to the tip.

                    • Sowed onion and lettuce
Decided that neighbour who other neighbours don't like is a pita
Decided against a plot fire as people had things out on nearby washing lines - tomorrow then
Emptied plot gh piddle bucket onto compost bins - whilst Im told its sterile when it comes out - depending on the state of your urinary meatus - it was a bit smelly so I would imagine no longer sterile - probably best off in the compost bin

                      • It was no weather that I wanted to go out in today, so I've potted on 50 tomatoes, some flower seedlings (the name escapes me) and some lambs lettuce. I've also painted the metal frame that I found abandoned on another plot a couple of weeks ago. It's amazing what a lick of paint can do That'll now be a bean frame!

                        • Decided that it really wasn’t the weather to try and repair my greenhouse, so instead went to Morden Hall Park, which was lovely. Their garden centre was surprisingly good, and I treated myself to kiwi, gojiberry and boisonberry plants, plus a red thyme of some description. And got caught in a hail storm.

Potted up some chilis, but otherwise am a bit stuck for room until the greenhouse is sorted, have got a mate coming next Sunday to help with that...

                          • Every year I plant my elephant garlic in November time and then just cover the whole thing in black plastic. By February they will have grown about 6 inches but the growth will be pale rather than green. After taking off the cover off for two weeks they will have greened up and have a good head start. Those plants are in the background.

I'm putting an extra level to my raised beds so hopefully next year this will be a lot deeper for carrots. Unfortunately this spot is really rocky (as in all rock) so there is not natural earth underneath.

There is some ordinary garlic in the foreground.

                            • didn't have much time this weekend, but got in some tomato and cucumber seeds. Planted some lemon seeds for an experiment.

nipped into the plot with the small person and gave the drainage ditches a good scrape. There is standing water a few inches below the surface at the moment.

(On that subject, I want to put some gates in the ditches, so that when it gets drier, I don't let any runoff run off)
