spent hours on the plot, digging and weeding a new bed, didn't get very far as I was enjoying the weather, and it was tough going, a lot to catch up on, but at least I got my vitamin d

I received my mushroom leaves today, so planted them up, along with all the mint varieties I got suckered into buying lol I got a freebie rosemary, so potted that up too, but missing the curry leaf plant out of the parcel Best email them!
Got the back garden tubs weeded and everything poop-scooped ready for gardening frenzy over the weekend

Went to the local GC to pick up a free growbag and 6 border cover plants.
They had some nice scotch bonnets for £1 and a few other chilli 'standards' and a shelf with some more interesting ones for £2.75 - so I picked up a bhut jolokia. Upon chatting with a new plot neighbour a learnt that 'Trinidad Perfume' is a splendid chilli in terms of flavour - and I think it was also in the 'interesting shelf'. I also learned she originates from Trinidad!
Think tomorrow I might beat the rush to the GC and pick up a couple of 'perfumes'sigpic
1574 gin and tonics please Monica, large ones.

Today was ~ unfortunately ~ a decorating day as we've been meaning to d the living room for *blush* over a year Everything out, sand walls down, fill any holes etc. Tomorrow is a painting day.
Didn't take as long as I expected though so I escaped to allotment for an hour to potter about - dug another bed, moved a few perennials out of polytunnel beds, gave everything a good watering.
Tomorrow I plan to pop up to allotment first thing to sow a few squash & flower seeds before heading home for breakfast & painting. If I'm not on the Grapevine I can usually be found here!....https://www.thecomfreypatch.co.uk/

Today I emptied out the ‘compost’ ( not really terribly composted) from my new tumbler composter and I refilled it with a mix of grass clippings household scraps and shredded brassica stems and old celery. I gave it a drink of water and cow Muck.
The stuff I took out is only partly decomposed but I put it on a compost heap which has worms in it as I’m sure they will love this stuff. I hope so as yesterday I put a layer of it in my worm bins. We will see...
I’m determined to get this composting going well as I really have a lot of vegetable and fruit material from the house and I don’t want to throw it out - even to the council green waste collections.

Finished digging bean bed. Dug out my favourite couch grass, horsetail and bind weed.
Did some bed edges too so looking slightly tidier.
Watered garlic and onions as the soil has cracked for weeks now and we have four days of hot weather.
Weeded garlic and onions. More to continue tomorrow.
Spread chicken pellets on beds that are ready.

Last of the shallots went in today - Hermine white skinned. Mulched them and the second and third patches if garlic with bag of grass cuttings the Compost Fairy left yesterday.
Sowed my parsnips, hamburg parsley and split up one of the Earch Chestnuts into 16 smaller plants which were transplanted out and well Watered. First time I've split one up so keeping an eye on how the do. The parent plant was in for two years and gave a small pile of tubers (I was waiting for it to die back but it didn't) so I'm looking to see what I get off these after one season. I've three other plants which will be transplanted and split next time (although I'll, probably split them into less clumps)
Weeded the annual Oerprei bed.
Gave the overwintering alliums a tonic of comfrey feed - will be doing that once or twice a week for the next couple of months, along with the summer alliums once they've grown.
