      • Hand weeded the asparagus and strawberry bed - found a few more spears too.
Weeded one of the dwarf orchards - aiming to scatter some D flower seeds there tomorrow.
Cleared a bit more of GH No 1 - both by eating the lettuce and uprooting the Mizuna/Mibuna/something with a funny name, which is about to flower. Replanted it in the Completely random bed where bolting plants end their days.
Also replanted a bolting beetroot in Bed 2B (the experimental self-seeding beetroot bed) and an unknown cabbage, also from the GH, in Bed 3C - 'cos C is for cabbage and carrot - and chard now, as I scattered some old Chard seeds there too.
Funny how there are lots of veg names starting with C.
Picked some more perennial cauli for my dinner.

        • Potted up sugarsnap peas.
          Pricked out some lettuce.
Started planting up the tunnel bed.
          Mowed the veg garden.
Potted up 7 mystery chillies into one very big tub.

          • Potted up a Chamaerops palm tree
            Potted up some peppers
            Potted up some melons
            Weeded the allotment
Dug a load of holes at the allotment
Found my guerrilla plot in the woods
Started digging holes on the guerrilla plot
Transported some netting to the guerrilla plot
            Began germinating some sunflowers

A rather productive day, by my own standards at least...

            • About 3 weeks ago I made up 3 buckets full of nettle tea and today I used up the first one, so I replaced it with a new one.

Because the nettle tea is very nitrogen rich with few other elements I like to add coffee grounds to the mix because although it has an equivalent amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in its makeup, the nitrogen in it is slow to deliver so I'm hoping this balances the mix a bit more.

                  • Carefully counted out my sweetcorn seeds tonight (late variety can't remember the name atm) and sent messages round to family about sending me more toilet roll tubes! Checked round the greenhouse, super marmande toms doing well with the grafted cucumber. Shame about the big gaping hole in my greenhouse (I lost 2 panes in the high winds) but I've got fleece at the ready for the chill on the way. I'm hoping to get a lot of sowing done tomorrow morning before we head off out but time (and children's demands!) will tell! Mainly sowing more flowers for borders but will put in another couple of courgettes too, only had one germinate so far.

                      • The compost fairy has been busy and I had 8 120 litre bags of grass to take down - only 4 would fit in the car.

Weeded and mulched some of the Back of Beyond with newspapers and grass. Made a video of it.

Shaved a couple of the Welsh Onions. Made a video of it.

Toured the fruit gardens and made a video of it.

The grape vines are doing well and leafing out. The vine in the fruit fence is covered in these little knobbly bits. The kiwi looks as if it has some flower buds. The blossom on the pears is dropping and is replaced by tiny proto pears. The red currants are covered in strings, lots of little berries forming on the goosegogs, blueberries covered in flower, Chokeberry has clumps of blossom, apples in bloom, cherry joining in, raspberries growing, lots of buds on the blackberry, quince getting flower, blossom dropped off the saskatoon, Strawberries floweribg, golden currant covered in clove scented blooms, lingonberry flowering.

Got home to discover that the camera had the wrong settings and didn't record the sound.

                        • Early this morning, I set off down the garden with my bucket containing 3 leek stumps and 3 carrot stumps to replant in their respective beds - that's bed 16 for the leeks and 3 for the carrots. Also some Dill and Daikon radish seeds to sow in Bed 4, as its the 4th of the month (still with me?).
Bed 16 was a bit overgrown and I couldn't decide where to plant those 3 little leek stumps - so I had to clear it a bit.

At 7pm this evening, I finally found a spot to plant the stumps, and the carrots and sow the D seeds.

                          I knew I could do it.................eventually.

Hand on leeks are technically a leaf but carrots are roots. And its Saturday. Daikon are roots but dill is a leaf. And it's Saturday.

                              • You really must keep up, Jay-ell. Its Shoots week, Saturday is Catch-up Day, and the 4th is D when I tidy bed 4 and where the plants beginning with D grow and ........

                                .......sit down,

.........this is my latest twist - I'm sorting all my seed packets alphabetically. and I have 26 boxes, one for each letter. Each day, I select the appropriate box and sow at least one thing in it. Today, it was Dill and Daikon.

Actually, today was the first day I've tried this and I'm still sorting seeds into boxes!
