    • Weeded Bed 6 and planted a Bronze Fennel.
Sowed Green Fennel seeds, French Breakfast radish and French marigolds in bed 6.
Also sowed a few French Marigolds in each of the tomato pots in the GH.

Cleared brambles from another lost garden - got scratched and nettled. Don't know why I bother!

      • Went out for the day but a friend gave me six tomato seedlings. He in turn had been given a tray of them and hasn't a clue which variety they are. Having limited room in container garden planted them up, three to a largish pot. Now to wait and see if they survive and what they are. They look very healthy.

          • Three more bags of grass from the Compost Fairy went down the plot together with a happy shopper full of kitchen trimmings.

Layered these on the compost bin with half complete compost full of twigs as the browns. Once I've turned out the first bin I'll then start going backwards till I get back to the bottom of the second. That'll be a lot of compost which will hopefully e ready for next year.

            • I went to the stables and shovelled some more manure, it started raining. I was umming and arring (haha) whether to go straight home or not, but decided that I could at least go and dump the manure on the plot.
By the time I got up there, the rain had stopped, so I got stuck in spreading cardboard over the middle bed, as it's getting a bit urgent to cover all the grass that's growing like.. well... weed. I spread the manure over the cardboard, and decided that I needed to get wood chip for my paths, so I took all the bags in the van and backed up to the wood chip pile. A few tonnes later, almost all my paths are covered.
I'm going to be achy tomorrow

              • Sowed more herbs.
Planted out radishes and more salad leaves.
Tidied the greenhouse...again, trying to make some extra space.
                Did a lot of weeding.
Covered up the potatoes that are growing in the half barrels.
Dead headed and put away the last of the daffs and tulips.
Filled up some more water bottles to keep in the greenhouse.
Staked up the sweetpeas which are growing so fast.
Filled the bird bath and fed the birds.
Now off to have a chilled evening.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                      Dont know Scarlet.
They always seem to do well for me.
Self saved seed every year, sown in late October or even early November.
                      Planted outdoors in March.
A lot of them have flower buds on already.

                      • I did a lot yesterday.

                        Planted runner beans in modules
Finished the second compost bay (this thing is huge)
                        Planted out some French Marigolds
                        Planted more lettuce in modules
                        Planted rocket in modules
Planted barlotti beans - yes, in modules
Planted another drill of carrots (I'm not convinced the first ones are going to grow well)
Pottered about for another couple of hours.

I wouldn't worry too much - mine have been out for a couple of months and haven't grown a lot - as long as they keep pootling along they'll get there, and be better plants for having got their roots down in to the soil to a greater depth.

                          • Put more things outside to harden off.
Moved more things into the small cooler tunnel.
Had another little pretend weed of the raspberry bed.
Sown some more old seeds in raspberry bed.
Potted up more chillies. Only 9 to go.
Potted on the last of the squash & pumpkins.

                              • Took out the Roman circle in the back garden to give more space to my dahlias.
Spent the afternoon shovelling up sand that was underneath the stones.
                                Potted on some tomatoes.
Potted up some herbs for family members.
