  • Popped 12 onion sets into a module tray.

I know it's a bit late to be starting off sets but these are 6 Dakota Red and 6 Coral Mountain potato onion sets which are hard to find but won't keep till next year.

They might not get to full sized but they should be able to split and give me more sets to start off in spring. So that will be Red, White, Yellow, Green Mountain, Dakota Red and Coral Mountain potato onions.

      • Rained all day so weeding of Bed 8 didn't happen.
However, I have a jar in my pocket containing Helenium, and Heliotrope seeds ready to scatter when there's a dry spell - and a Hyssop to plant.
In the GH I've sown some Hispi cabbage and "Huacatay" Black Mint " a pungent herb from Peru with a flavour partway between coriander and mint. Use the leaves to make Peruvian Green Sauce" Sounds a bit temperamental to grow though, so I'm not looking up recipes yet.

              • Got in from work (Night shift) and went to bed.
Couldn't sleep so got up and potted on some toms
Noticed one of the sweetpotato pits has a leaf poking up above the soil.
                Went back to bed.

                • Potted up 4 Sungold toms in the polytunnel.
Pulled up the enormous parsley bush which was bolting and threatening to take over one end of the poly.
                  Watered bits and bobs inside.
Gazed in irritation at the blanket of catkins which has covered my plot overnight... fished as many as i could out of the pond.

                    • Potted up 43 starter plants from my new favourite supplier. Rosemary, sage and lavender of various sorts.

Spent some time this morning catching up on weeding yesterday's chosen Bed 8 before moving on later to Bed 9. The ground's very wet and not good for weeding. Managed to clear a large enough patch to scatter Iberis/Candytuft and Iceland poppies.
Also a pinch of Iceberg lettuce seeds in the GH.

                      • Put up 3 wigwams and netted them ready for the peas.
                        Finished planting the tunnel bed.
                        Planted out some lettuce.
Potted 2 toms and 9 mystery chillies into final pots.
                        Removed tomato armpits.
Filled a fish box in the little tunnel with home made compost and planted it up with 3 varieties of dwarf French beans.
Filled 3 crates with home made compost ready for the melons.
                        Weeded bed 1

                        • Was keen to get to the allotment but has been raining all day what happened to the heatwave we were promised?

Sowed beans that have been soaking - climbing borlotti (I think district nurse) from the bean swap, dwarf borlotti and nuns belly button

Some of my seedlings are not looking too good after having been away so re sowings are needed.

                            • Potted up melons.
                              Refilled sales barrow.
Put more stuff out to harden off.
Moved more things into the little tunnel.
                              Tidied first tunnel.
Planted more sunflowers, another 95 onions, 121 leeks, chard, spinach, dill, coriander.

Did a bit of boat polishing until rain stop play.

                              • Weeded Bed 10. Didn't sow anything as Js a difficult letter and there's not much free space in 10.
Planted a Honeyberry bush that I'd forgotten I bought in Morries, in Bed 8'
Currently thinkibg about filling a few modules, about 26 to be exact and having dwarf bean sow-in.

EDIT - Done 20 modules of 20+ types of DFB. Couldn't manage every letter of the alphabet.
