  • I have zombie beans

Weeded the oca bed, manured the oca bed, planted the oca bed, mulched the oca bed, messed up the oca video
    https://youtu.be/2C05K8ptwXA

Weeded other beds, popped some walking onions into a space that hasn't been filled by anything else.

Sorted out the staging in the green house so that I can move everything out of the dining room and kitchen.

    I HAVE ZOMBIE BEANS

The two year old mouldy beans I sowed the other day have started to pop up in the propagator.

      • Took some of the plants from out of the dining room down to the greenhouse, dumped them unceremoniously on the staging and gave them a quick watering then rushed home as I had received a "sometime today" delivery slot for some 120 liter garden bags for the Compost Fairy (more bags = more grass clippings).

They came around 5pm so popped back down the plot with more plants and organised them onto the staging. Gave them all a decent watering and now hopefully they will be able to get more light than they've been getting.

Weeded, Watered a bit. Measured the height of the onions. Pulled up blackberries from the Square Foot Orchard.

The overwintering potatoes in the bed are starting to show now. Buckets seem to be faster as all the spuds in the buckets are up plus the swift. The maris piper in the bed is also poking up now. Will see at harvest time how much I get from them.

Spent some time this morning catching up on weeding yesterday's chosen Bed 8 before moving on later to Bed 9. The ground's very wet and not good for weeding. Managed to clear a large enough patch to scatter Iberis/Candytuft and Iceland poppies.
Also a pinch of Iceberg lettuce seeds in the GH.
Any chance of sharing the name of your new favourite supplier please?
          What lavenders did you get?

          • Today I earthed up potatoes and cleared weeds from the bed.
Got rid of overwintered kale plants, dug over and planted volunteer potatoes from new plot.
            Weeded broad beans and peas.
Dug out two overwintered Swiss chard. Brought the young leaves home for cooking.
Harvested PSB, probably the last. Could squeeze a few more shoots from them.

            • Went down to the plot early today as I'm on nights. Mulched the summer raspberries, mulched the autumn raspberries, mulched the square foot orchard, pruned one of the figs.

Pulled up some weeds. Some of these weeds happened to be Leeks but they were growing in the wrong place. They all had baby Leeks and bulbs at their bases.

Got home and trimmed the fig pruning. Popped them into a jar of water with a couple of soluble asprins - they're bound to have a headache after a day like that.

              Night night everyone.

              • Today, I unpacked the young herb plants that I received yesterday, & put them in one of those containers that had mushrooms from the supermarket. Gave these little plants a watering & placed them on a windowsill where I know they won't get knocked off by the moggies . These little plants will be planted up on Tuesday, after I have washed a couple of suitable containers. I also checked on the seeds that I planted at Easter. Both the lettuce & rocket seedlings are coming along quite nicely; but the herb seeds are taking a long time to show. I might have to move the pot to a warmer spot in the yard - or start again! But I will just have to be patient for these to appear. The 1st early potatoes were topped up with compost with a mixture fertilizer. I will water them later on this afternoon.

                  Its Newlands Nursery https://plants-uk.co.uk/

I bought Twickle Purple and Provence. One starter plant is £1.99 but you can buy 6 for £4.14 (69p each) - which is what I've been doing.

They're much bigger than the lavender plugs I've received from other companies.

                  • First of all I reset my password as it’s a while since I last logged on.

Today ive sown the dwarf brolotti bean and dwarf dapple grey french bean seeds that I have had from the 2012 pea and bean seed circle, potted on the last on the tomato plants into the Morrison’s flower buckets, the chilli’s have also been put into their final pots and I’m just about to put netting over the bean/mangetout archway that I constructed last week.

                      • Just a bit of prep work over the plots with the OH's help.

First spring feed for the butternuts 2019 home, dug, trampled and raked the brassica tunnel and erected the bean supports.

And had a spot of lunch

                        • Swapped things around on my barrow.
Shuffled plants around on hardening off bench. Worked out what still needs planting and what's spare/ for sale.
Planted more dwarf French beans in the little tunnel after reading the dwarf bean thread.
Planted 2 spare varieties of squash in bed 9
Planted 4 spare tomatoes (2 varieties) and 3 mystery chillies in bed 3

                          • I like what I ordered from Newlands too VC, but the 9cm curry leaf plant was missing. I emailed them informing them, with a few pictures of what had arrived. When I hadn't had a response, nor a plant through the post a week later I emailed them again. Even now I've not had a response. I'm going to have to ring them. I don't like to be so naggy, but it was the curry plant I made the order for.

And today I've been a busy bee on the allotment. First I shifted more wood chip for the paths, and the van was not happy with the weight. Thankfully the wood chip pile is only around the corner. I then treated the polytunnel frame with kurust, then had lunch up there in the sunshine. I got all the weeding done, and spread all the wood chip over the paths. I reckon I'll need one more load for the new plot.
I then painted the frame, had a good old natter with one of my favourite plot holders, then after 7 hours on the plot, I went home and cooked some tea with chard and cabbage from the back garden
