Not a lot done today.
Very heavy showers so it was an in and out kind of day.
Daughter in law called in with the baby and that ended the work.
All done now.
Have a nice evening.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I went to a new place for horse manure this morning, and my goodness, it's a lovely huge pile of well rotted, black stuff. I filled the van, emptied it all on my cardboard that's been down a week already, then went back for another, bigger load. Turns out that shovelling is not only good cardio exercise, I've also somehow walked 21k steps today. I bought a cheap fitbit type bracelet that tells me what my phone couldn't... wow!
I am leaving most of the work up there until tomorrow, but I did pick the last peas - they're coming out tomorrow. Is it too late for a last flush of peas even for shoots? I might bring a Leo box with me tomorrow and spread them - nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
I got home, shelled the peas while having a cup of coffee in the sunshine, then cooked them with my first patty pan and a squash that wasn't mature, but birds had pecked it, so had to be picked, with cod in dill butter.
Spending a moment now looking for stuff I can sow now, as I have a huge bed, and another two huge beds ready for stuff to go into

Haven't been doing much on the plot as have been a little demotivated lately, but been keeping up with harvesting courgettes.
Harvested courgettes, french beans and blackberries. Dug out elephant garlic which looks fine (no allium leaf miner damage).
Sowed black Spanish radishes - should be interesting.
Weeded a little and saved nasturtium seeds and elephant garlic bulbils.
Feel my gardening mojo coming back!

Yesterday I went and fetched two van loads of horse manure and spread them on the plots. I need a couple more good finds of loads of big cardboard, and I should have most of the plots under control.
Today I spent weeding the 75ft bed, well half of it, and pulled out all of the peas, as they'd definitely finished. I will sow some more for pea shoots. I picked blackberries, kale and french beans that I will bring with me to my friend's house tomorrow as she's kindly invited me over for tea. I'll try not to get too tempted, but she lives out by the sea, on an old RAF base, and there's a big semi for sale there with a big garden for not a lot of money ><

Ripped out 3 tomato plants, 2 cucumber, radish plants ( grown for seed pods) , 2 spinach, all the mangetout, sugar snap peas and 1 wigwam of peas.
Composted 5 mini Tom varieties.
Moved some more chillies from little tunnel to the first tunnel.
Harvested stuff. If it stops raining for more than 5 minutes I’ll be harvesting more stuff.
Played with flower seeds.Last edited by Small pumpkin; 19-08-2019, 05:57 PM.
