  • I seemed to have been waiting ages for the last of my Telephone peas pods to go crisp and dry finally that day arrived so they've been pulled up and the seeds will be saved for next year.

Took out a cuc that's finished from the GH. potted on some winter lettuce that will be going in the GH border when the toms are out.
    Location....East Midlands.

    • Today I filled two bins with sieved leafmould. I have so much and it’s lovely stuff. I need to empty the old leaf bins before starting to collect this years’ leaves. I intend to use some of it in a wee experiment. I’ll plant window boxes with spring bulbs in pure leafmould with a bit of BFB added. The bulbs should have everything they need to produce a flower already and I might give them a liquid feed around flowering time. This will save a lot on compost and I’ll plant the bulbs in the garden afterwards to recover.

From where it starts to drop away so you can see to the bottom of the plot properly.

          • I have been attacking a hedge that has got out of hand behind the old "rabbit proofed " bit, the Holly was over 4 metres tall, bottom of next doors garden was getting too much shade in the afternoon, now down to 2 metres, not finished, but I have two heaps of debris to shift now.

                  • Went for a drive up to the other end of the island to pick up some young trees for our new garden.
Oak, elm, gean ( had to look that one up! Wild cherry ), beech, Scots pine & rowan.

                    And a bit more strimming.

                    • In between rain showers
Staked seed crop lettuces plants (lost one to the gales )
Divided and replanted Japanese Iris and Day Lillies
Sowed crocus, allium and sparaxis bulbs
All at once I hear your voice
                      And time just slips away

                        • I’ve finished strimming . Well all I can do. A few really tough patches that need Bob and his strimmer with the blade on. I might just put the blade on mine, it’ll get done then .

Weeded and covered bed 3. Never to be used again.
Weeded and started putting cow manure on one of the beds I will be using again. 7 barrow loads So far. Also covered the bit I’ve done.

                              • Its Weedy Wednesday and my Weed of the Week was Couch grass. Managed to dig enough roots up to fill a trug.
There's a lot of satisfaction in digging up couch when the soil is damp enough to push a fork in easily but dry enough that the soil falls from the roots with a good shake.
Maybe this should be on the Happy thread.
