      • A courgette harvested from seed sown on last day of July! Really wasn’t expecting anything but there are lots more forming so fingers crossed there will be a few before the frost. Also, baby carrots and runner beans.

Two massive beetroot (one was half a kilo). Had then roasted with the roast dinner today.

I sowed some that late, and they formed nice sized plants. But unfortunately, the slugs nibbled out the growing points on all of them, so none of them have born any fruit. They have produced male flowers, though, which have been useful for pollinating my other courgettes, which seems to produce very few of male flowers.
I shall try again next year.

I have one plant which insists on male flowers only, but hey...we’ve eaten the flowers

                    • Not yet.... trying to resist... Sweet potatoes... Going to take some cuttings to see if I can over winter them indoors for next year. That is if I get a decent haul this year. Will probably be after the first lot Saturday if I can wait that long
