It looks like Wilkos may have seed potatoes in, they are listed on the web site, so I'm assuming they are in store.
Last year I bought my seeds around mid - late march, they went in the ground around easter.
However, when I bought them, they were all already well chitted, looking dry and wrinky, some of the chits broke off when debagging.

I'm just wondering, should I wait or buy them now to store in my garage, in the hope that they may be less store bruised and damaged.

    Any thoughts.

I have seen them on the website but when I went into my local store they didnt have any and when I asked they looked at me like I was crazy. Hopefully they will be in store soon.

If they have them instore, buy them now and start chitting them now. If you want to hold some back for a later sowing just keep them somewhere nice and cool.

Yep they're in at Lancaster, I got mine (pentland javelin and Charlotte) I thought I'd get them ASAP to get them out of the warm store and in to my cool garage and popped them in my cool bright chitting spot.

Some of them are in my local store in Grimsby too, but not all of of them. They seem to be coming in in dribs and drabs.

Out of interest what do people use to grow the potato in? I see wilko sell the grow bags which are 42L for £2.50, however I have a few unused 80L plastic dustbins. If I drill holes in the bottom will these be ok to use or are they too big?

Tried another Wilko today, they had none in stock and no idea if they will be getting any either. Think I may just order them online
