  • Sharks Fin Melon

I had a decent harvest of Sharks Fin Melons. Most are ok but one has went very soft and collapsed in on itself. Does this mean that the seeds will be ripe and after drying will be ready for planting this season?

You may even find that the seeds have germinated inside, when you open it - I had one that did this a few years ago

What's the verdict on these Shark Fings?
I have some seeds but need convincing about whether to sow them, or not!

Easy to grow, crop well, thrive on neglect. If you have space spare than worth it. Can be used as a bulk veg (flavour isn't very exciting). Last time I grew them I made angel hair jam which was great in pastries, but I have a sweet tooth and a liking for all things cakey

I wasn't overly impressed with the taste/texture, and never repeated them. They make HUGE plants and the leaves are quite pretty, if you've got a big space (ground or fence/trellis) that needs covering with summat lol
