  • I have a cunning plan. A plan not recommended by anyone with common sense!
In the next couple of days I'm going to be potting on and moving some of my mystery chillies to the polytunnle . Mostly because I need the space for my main chillies. Which also need potting on.
So I've set it put today ready for them. Obviously I can't just put them in the polytunnel and abandon them they're my babies.
They're going under this cloche and will have fleece over them at night.

Pots are filled with compost, perlite and chicken manure pellets. Already under the cloche warming

    • Well needs must. Hopefully they will be fine. Potted on another 10 chills today from modules to pots. My front windowsill is now full with tomato, cucumber and chilli seedlings, so will have to put some on the bedroom sill. It is bright but gets less direct sunshine. So the question is which plant needs more direct sun - chills, tomatoes or cucumbers?

      • Tricky they kinda all need the same. You might have to start plant juggling ( I don't like to boast but I'm a pro at it ). Swap them over every couple of days from one window to the other. You'll just have to see how it goes. They might be fine.
That wasn't much help was it

        • Well if that’s what I need I can do it. I keep a close eye on them anyway. Looking forward to the time I can put them in the greenhouse and get my house back.

A couple more months yet....I lost a load of dahlia growth recently, they were wrapped up too

I put them inside a blowaway in the GH but they haven't recovered yet.

Maybe a bit early and the plant too small to support it?

Yep, I will be nipping them off when the buds get a bit bigger. It's the most vigorous out of all my pepper plants, only the Padrons are keeping up with it. They've all really exploded with growth since the last watering.

                    • Only 30 left in the house now, potted on into a big cell tray . Potted up the rest and put them in the tunnel with the other that I did a while ago. Which are all doing really well.

                      • How cold is it going down to in your tunnel? I had thought my chillis would need to be inside for a while longer. Potted more up into individual pots today. All doing well. Have a pic of the dark leaved one I will post.

                        • The only dark leaved one I have. The true leaves are green with a dark edging. Quite interesting. I potted it on today. Click image for larger version

I don't know exactly. But we've not had a frost since they've been out there. They have black weed fabric under them on the bench, to stop drafts going up through the gaps. They have a second tunnel cloche over them ( which I open if it's sunny ). And fleece over them at night.

What do you mean I pamper my chillies

Yeah I've got a couple of those, really looking forward to seeing what they turn into.

                            • A surprise pepper has popped up in one of my tomato germination pots, due to me re-using the pepper seedling mix! Could be a mystery or one of the 14 other known varieties that were sown.

                              • Latest - here are my tomato and chilli seedlings plus a few cucumbers. Was rearranging them as I have just started putting the tomatoes and cucumbers out in the gh during the day. It’s going to be a while before I think I can leave them out overnight. Hope this early planting is worth it. I want my windowsills back!
