says plant September to January, so I reckon you'll be all right. If you can manage six weeks at temps below 10 ºC, you should be perfectly OK.

The Garlic Farm recommend Solent Wight, Tuscany Wight, Picardy Wight and Lautrec Wight for 'Spring' (January to April) planting - https://www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/growing/calendar

Maybe they bulk up quicker than other varieties? I once planted Solent Wight in April; they got smothered by courgettes but still produced good sized bulbs.

Garlic from Nairn

Interested to read this thread (although I recognise that I have read it late).

I have planted garlic once only and it was probably the easiest and most successful crop we grew. I stuck the cloves in my garden in November and next year they all came up. I did not feed it at all or give it any other kind of special treatment.

Garlic we planted came from a garlic farm in Nairn and they said it was their own variety. If you don’t have success this year my limited experience would suggest try some of their garlic, stock it in the ground in November and ignore it.

I'm doing garlic for the first time this year. Mine is Elephant Garlic which, as disorganised me, didn't have a bed ready, potted up into large pots and has kept outside since October Seems to be growing very well too.

I did some last year but I planted in December 2017 and they didn't do too well at all. I think it was the wet clay soil we have here.

I was looking at buying the garlic collection from The Garlic Farm plus some Extra Early Wight but it looks as if I'm getting a bit late now Just didn't want to put it in before because of my wet heavy clay soil.

I'm expecting the garlic to be here today. however this time of year by the time I get home from work, it's too dark to go down the allotment.

It will be the weekend (weather permitting before i get down there).

Any thoughts on starting these cloves, maybe in a seed tray in the greenhouse, or am i better off just keeping them as they are until i get down.

I know a week, is hardly enough to make much of a difference, but 'owt's better than nowt' as we say in Yorkshire

Took 5 and a bit weeks for my Solent Wight to show above the soil, planted 1st January.

They'll probably grow fine but they might not be real Solent Wight! Usually get mine from simplyseed.co.uk or, more recently, growseed.co.uk.
