  • Too dig or Not to dig?

So I have managed to dig over one of the plots near enough completely. However I have a greenhouse and poly tunnel frame I am going to cover in netting for a Brassica Tunnel. This is currently covered in Black Plastic (The one which allows water through). The question is should I dig over under this for my Brassicas (As Brussels Sprouts like the soil to be firm) or should I leave this and not dig it?

It depends if it contains perennial weeds. If it does, I would dig them out, but for brassicas in particular I wouldn't dig it simply for the sake of digging it.

Mine was dug in November and covered with 4" of compost with a weed fabric over blanket...Will be raked, walked on then planted.

I wouldn't dig - I'd spread cardboard if it's a grassy area, wet it down, cover with a few inches of compost, then plant into that when the time is ready

If there are any perennial weeds, I would dig those out. On my first year, OH and I spent a good 20 mins jumping around on the brassica bed to re-firm the soil after digging. It worked well, though I am glad no one was watching....
