Cucumber recommendations

Good evening,

My cucumbers tend to get neglected a bit, when I bother growing them at all.

I can take them or leave them but Viki likes them so I thought I'd try a bit harder this year. I'm looking for a variety that you pick fairly small, but is also prolific. Viki will use them in salads and I fancy a go at pickling some, chip shop style. I want enough ready at the same time to pickle, but don't want to grow more than a couple of plants as I want the greenhouse space for other things.

Has anyone got a tried and tested variety that might fit the bill please?

I bought seeds for a small type of cucumber from Lidl as they were cheap - just put a few to germinate today by coincidence - can't remember the variety, but it might be worth a look, if you have a Lidl near you.

I grow Beth Alpha - small cucumbers and they were very productive last year. However, there'll only be one, maybe two, cues ready to pick at a time on a plant.

Same with the mini ones I grow,there’s only ever one or two cucumbers ready at once,more plants would be better,about seven plants. Mini munch,cucino & diva all good varieties I grow,they’re the only mini ones I’ve ever grown though but they’re all good

I always grow Femspot or paska
They are normal size ones but they are lovely.
They pickle well. I use this recipe

Ok, I get the impression that I won't get enough to pickle a batch from just two plants. I could maybe go for three, but won't compromise the tomato, chilli, pepper and aubergine space.

I'll take a punt on the Beth Alpha so I can blame VC if they're no good.

I grew two or three different varieties, but they all turned out about the same with productivity and quality. I think I had nine plants, and that left me enough to eat and pickle enough to last me until they become available again

I should say, all my seeds came from Lidl.

I bought 2 types as well.Last year grew Lidl gherkins they did very well.

We did really well with Crystal Apple. It's an outdoor type and produces dozens of small round yellow cucumbers about the size of an apple.

I grow 1 plant in the greenhouse and 2 or 3outside. That works well for me. I like muncher but that will be too big for pickling.

socrates works best for me, 3 plants in the tunnel fuel my fermentation/pickling needs

I grew Socrates last year (named after the philosopher or the Brazilian footballer I wonder?). They did OK, flip me they were expensive though.
