it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

    • I've just planted another one.
      So that's 3 outside and 1 inside.

      • Only 1 of mine germinated, and even that one doesn't look too happy, so don't think I'll be in the running this year

        • Three of my first nine sowed germinated.... one of which has now pegged it up at the allotment. The other two are frozen in time.
I have sowed a whole lot more

            • There's a lot of re-sowings - do you think it's this godawful weather we're having at the moment? I spent most of May waiting for it to warm up properly but it's been absolutely dire - certainly a lot colder than I remember previous May's being (not including last year's freaky hot spell!).

I was still waiting for my three to emerge when I was up at the allotment on Friday so fingers crossed they'll be up today

                  • Saturday was the big reveal, after planting out doors covered by a double layer of fleece for a week and then a single layer for another the trombs are uncovered in all their glory! Lots of flowers an one has a pair of trombs growing, if they were straight I would guess about 4 inches long and an inch in diameter. Some string to hold them up and they are off... Bangles for a 6 year old?

And and aside I also have a couple of larger than golf ball Uchiki Kuri and eaten my first griller and Chairo di nezza (?) courgettes. Small but very tasty. I recommend the fleece treatment for those like me that are too lazy to do the whole in and out hardening off.

The thing I grow best are very large slugs!

                      • Good evening, 2 trombo planted but not moving at all, both covered with double layer of 30g fleece, but really to cold for them so looks like I will not have any crop from them this year, though I will sow another couple of seeds, just in,case

                        • Same here rary. My 2 outside Tromboncino aren't doing very much at all ( none of my cucurbits are to be fair). The inside one is looking quite good though.

                            • Yep I've planted all mine out. And they seem to be in limbo. Might try sowing some more and keep them in the greenhouse
