Chicken Manure Pellets - When?

Can I ask you wise peeps, when is the best time to add chicken manure pellets to a veg patch? It's for leeks that will go in end of May. Do I add it round about now, or a week or 2 before planting?

About a week before planting, usually - but I have been known to throw a few pellets at the bottom of each dibbed hole, if I've forgotten to do it beforehand Haha
