Onion set planting depth?

Hi to you all,
we have just planted our onion sets, the info on the bag said, plant 6 cm's below the surface which we did. However i have been looking on youtube and appears you just push then into the soil with the tops showing! My question is do you think they will grow or do i pull them out and start again?

They will grow, thing about shallow planting is Blackbirds get hold of the bulbs and pull them out every day looking for worms.

Many thanks, I did check the instrutions twice, as I have just pushed the into the ground before.
