Tomato variety Shimmer

Did anyone try out the relatively new tomato variety Shimmer last year? If so, what did you think of them?

I did taste it last year and was not particularly impressed but my partner thought they tasted good. Just wondering how many to grow to full size this year.

To answer your question, I've seen the adverts but not the tomato. Its F1 so I probably wouldn't buy it.

I have the seeds, I plan to sow three to four of them, just wondering how people feel about their taste. If the result was that they taste good I would maybe grow three to full size, if the result was that they are not so good i would grow maybe only one to full size. Just trying to guage opinion, with tomato plants they grow so large space is at a premium.

F1 or not, I have the seeds so I am definitely growing at least one plant to full size. Maybe they taste and look truly amazing, well beyond any other tomato, who knows. I like to experiment and a small amount for some F1 seeds does not put me off.

Where have you seen adverts for this variety? I thought I had discovered a new and unadvertised variety!

It was the "grow to full size" that puzzled me - as though there was an option of growing to half size or something?
Is it a bush or a cordon tomato?

I haven't grown it either. To many OP varieties to try....Thouhh it looks very similar to rambling red stripe but a cordon variety.
If you are short on space maybe try a few varieties that would grown in a hanging basket?

As to whether it's worth growing 4 of the same plant it depends on whether you like it. Taste is subjective but if you didn't like it last year I would choose something else for the other three. There's lots of great tomatoes out there to taste.

I usually go for a mix of ones I know I like plus a few experiments. That way at least I get some tasty ones. Maybe plant a few plus a few gardeners delight or sungold. Most people seem to like them.
