Chitting Spuds

Just checked my seed spuds in my loft .
I was looking to plant them in about 10/14 days time ( Pentland Javelin's ) i have found them already chitted and have about 3 or 4 shoots on each spud of about 4in to 8in in length .
My question is can i still use them ?
How should i plant them ? .
Should i srcap them and get a new batch of seed spuds ? .
If any one can give me any advice it would be appreciated .
Pentland Javelins are my preferred first crop as i have always have had a great crop from them .

I wouldn't scrap them but I would put them somewhere light. I'd then be extra careful planting them with the whole shoot below ground. The 8" shoots would be barely below the surface.

You could remove the chits and put them in the light and they will produce more shoots that are a better quality, there is no benefit to chitting potatoes in the dark as you get long spindly shoots that are searching for light. I have just checked mine and they are producing nice small stocky shoots that have a purple colour to them which is what I expect them to look like, they are in trays in my back bedroom that's unheated and unused but light with the curtains open.
