I like the idea of the leeks growing back, so I'm trying another trial.
I've just uprooted all the leeks in my garden - to make space for the masses of toms/melons and other stuff that needs to go in. I've separated them into 2 lots; those that I am saving for seed have all gone into a huge pot - they aren't F1s so can be saved.
The others have been put together in 2 huge bundles, and heeled in. I'll take out the biggest and use over the next few weeks - root and all; the others I'm going to cut off below the ground as two_sheds suggests and just leave them be and see what happens.
