Companion planting broad beans and sweetcorn

Hi,
I'll be interplanting my squash bed with corn and peas as ever, but the next bed along currently has broad beans starting. As they'll be over well before the corn will be ready, does anyone know of a reason not to bung some corn in there, too?

Last year I had a bed full of autumn sown broad beans. I was hoping they'd be finished in time for the sweetcorn to go in, but it didn't work out like that.

I had nowhere else to plant the sweetcorn so I put them in amongst the broad beans. I was worried they wouldn't get enough light as the beans were quite big by then, but they did fine, and a few weeks later I was able to chop the beans down to give them more space.

I'll do the same this year if my beans aren't ready in time, although with lots of flowers already that might not be necessary.

That's great news, thanks! The broad beans are just sprouting and the corn kernels have gone in, so with bit of luck they'll sprout before the beans get too big.

I get good results from growing my corn in the g-house because the winds blow a lot of the pollen away and usually interplant with dwarf French beans which works for me, so I don't see why planting corn with broad beans should be a problem as long as they get a good feed.
