Not planted anything yet... need help with motivation!

Lacking motivation this year.... i haven't planted anything!

Normally by now the potting shed is full of seed trays and there's a few more in the house. I think the forecast predicting minus 2 over the weekend is giving me another reason for me to keep putting it off!

What should i have planted by now?

Simply answer is nothing.
If your gardening mojo has packed it's bags and gone on holiday. Don't force yourself to garden. It's ment to be a fun activity/ hobby/ pass time.
I know how you feel my gardening mojo is a little below par at the moment

I've only sown some early GH stuff. Nothing to go outdoors yet.

I have the motivation just not the energy or the weather! I'm not going to worry too much though, my last frost date is supposedly the end of April so I figure that's my cut off date to then start panicking.

Late starters always seem to catch up with the better weather I think.

I have no windowsills nor greenhouse to start things off so I need to rely on frost dates and fleece!

As gg says....most plants do catch up

I'll probably sow beetroot, carrots, radish in about 10 days , and plant out some spuds.
At the moment I'm just trying to get the beds prepared and weed the strawberry patch.

You'll get in the mood eventually.
Maybe think about growing less this year? Or buy in a few plug plants?

Most things are fine sown a bit later, the possible exception being peppers and chillies, which probably should have been started by now. Don't worry though, if you don't feel like sowing and taking care of young plants at the moment you can always buy plants from the garden centre later, and you can sow most things well into May.

Don't panic it'll come back (eventually). I seemed to have turned in to a bit of a fair weather gardener so only done a little here and there. As long as it not completely horrendous (possible neighbour complaints) you'll be fine.

What are you looking forward to eating & sharing the most,that’s my motivation & coming on here helps too,having a look at what everyone’s getting up to. Have you looked through your seed packets,some can make you really keen just seeing the packet & remembering about them

I'd advise 10 minutes having a look at seed catalogues - either paper ones or online - if I do this I usually end up with more seeds than I know what to do with, and sow some in containers to try to justify my purchases :-)

Just started sowing a few things last Sunday. Toms and Okra are already up. Chilies, sweet potatoes, squash and cucumbers not yet. I've potted on two Giant Pumpkins seedlings that were growing inside the last pumpkin I opened up yesterday (well, there were half a dozen but the others succumbed to the knife or the rigors of removing the seeds from the center).

My Chilies and peppers are done and doing well under the lights in the loft

The tomato seed packs are out today, the cell tray pre-prepared and will get sown sometime today or in the morning

Yeah! My Mojo this year as shifted slightly, but not too concerned yet, them few nice days we had in early March did throw me into a little thinking I should have made the most

Glad I didn't as it then dipped considerably having to scrape my cars windscreen early hours, so still far too cold for things to grow

Clocks altered, Exinoxe in, lighter nights, things are warming

Ooh! I so understand the feeling when your mojo's gone AWOL. Trouble is, you look around and think I SHOULD'VE done this by now, WHY didn't I, I HAVE to do it or else! Do you see how negative these phrases are which may be causing you to feel so guilty? The last couple of years were a bit of a trial for me but I managed to get some pots and onion sets in plus the leeks I grew from seed sown in late April and I also bought in some brassicas, but at least I had some veg to eat in the summer, autumn and over winter. There's plenty of time to sow and plant because often the later crops do better then the earlier ones. Just do what you can even if it's only for half an hour, then give yourself a pat on the back for what you've achieved that day. Believe me, more days like that will follow but don't beat yourself up if it's not the next day. MT knows best! x
