I have rigged up a watering system for my tomatoes and peppers, I have cut the bottom off lemonade bottles bored a hole in the bottle lid and threaded a length of cotton string through the hole I have suspended the bottles to the side of the plants and run the string down to the ground, this is to avoid any water getting onto the plant leaves, I have just set the system up and hopefully this will avoid any plants drying out, but could any one tell me if I could feed the plants this way as well, I will be using comfrey tea I am thinking of wrapping paper round the bottles to avoid algie forming as I think that could cause a blockage if it forms round the string

Nick the string is acting as a wick and that is the reason I was wondering if it would be suitable for adding feed, any tea made from steeping material in water looks clear of solids but I am not sure if there will be insoluble particals in it which could block the wicking processit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
