Tamra slicing cucumber 10+2 giant ones now being seed saved finished
On a side unrelated note only seem to have the one winter squash from this year not been very good for them has it?

First courgette last week after probs with my first lot of plants. I sowed seed direct again at end of July and the plants have romped away, so I’m hopeful of a few fruit at least.

First two cukes today, Femspot from garden centre and Marketmore sown direct in June which quickly caught up with the pot grown plant.

Had a lot of ridge cukes this year, one plant now in the compost, but the other still has 3 more growing, maybe only need one plant next year, people are avoiding me in case I insist they have a cuke lol.
Might pick our first Butternut squash later next week, looking close to ripe.

Lol, can I recommend a recipe that will make short work of your cucumber glut? My mum was German and she made a wicked cucumber salad with fresh dill, absolutely delish- Here’s a recipe that would be similar...

Doing really well with Lebanese Courgettes.
I love everything about them, the light green colour, the smooth thin skin, the shape that reminds me of a light bulb (even though they’re described as club shaped) and most of all the flavour.
Delicious roasted or simply steamed with mint.
Will definitely be growing these again.
Conversely ........ my yellow patty pan has produced in excess of fifty flowers and not one (!,) has produced a fruit.
Very disappointed. I know you’re supposed to be able to do things with the flowers that involves stuffing and frying - but I can’t befaffed.

Yet another 'marrow' and three courgettes. The nights are getting cooler but still they keep coming. The marrow is the largest yet at 41cm long and weighing 1.8Kg - just as well we like them.

Cut first Kabocha squashs カボチャ, 南瓜

Moved some Kabocha squashes to the greenhouse bench to cure for a week or so. Not grown them before but apparently this is the thing to do to convert starch to sugars.
