About 20 yellow courgettes (soleil) from 2 plants.

I did have 3 plants all next to each other, but one was tastier for the slugs than the other two and was absolutely decimated by them.

This is interesting, I hadn't been keeping track, and was a bit sad about how many of the courgettes didn’t grow well at the beginning of the season (not pollinated well I read), but now I tot it all up I feel pretty pleased with this years crop - first foray into yellow courgettes.

Only 4 cucumbers for me so far this season. From 6 plants. Whereas I had picked at least 10 cucumbers by this stage last year, from 2 fewer plants. But this year has been different.

The cucumbers seemed much slower to take, and have grown slower overall, with ripe cucumbers also being some 2-3 weeks behind last season's ones. I remember picking about 5 in one go, off a single plant, in early July last year. That's just not the case for me this year.

Several of my cucumber plants died after being planted out in May/June. Due to the shock and climate. I didn't have that issue last year either. The ones that survived have only just started kicking on in the past few weeks. But lots and lots of small cucumbers maturing now. It's just they're much later than last year.

I don't know if other people have noticed this?

Just picked 14 monstrous patty pan squashes. Got about a dozen courgettes to come off later and our 4 cucumber plants have another decently sized one to come off when needed.

Our cornichons have started growing very quickly, the plants we have tied to 8ft long bamboo in the polytunnel and they are nearly at the top. I am pickling so many! (Have 6 plants)

1. Cukes 39 + 7 today =46 I was almost temped to lob a couple over the garden fence as my neighbour was mowing the lawn. But no, I was good. They will get em on Saturday as they have invited us over for a BBQ
