Charles Dowding on his website,https://www.charlesdowding.co.uk/mid...-aminopyralid/ says:-

I have seen or heard of (including photos) problems from Humix organic manure, Westalnd Jack’s Magic, Country Natural Manure, Bed-Down rapeseed straw bedding (!!).

I know many here use Jack's Magic and I've used the Humix as my local corner shop sells it.
Hence my thread about growing without using shop compost. https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ost_99573.html

I suppose the truth is, no one knows where this stuff is being used and therefore no one knows where it ends up.

Surprising that Jack's Magic contains it as it's 90% peat + organic fertiliser (presumably fish/blood/bone?).

That's what I thought too, but if CD says its so, I'm not going to argue!!
Westland and Levington come in for criticism on this Which discussion, which has been updated today.

The lady that I get horse manure from uses Bed-down for her horses. I've not had any problems so far.

Some of my toms seem to be showing signs at the top albeit they are 6ft+ tall so it hasnt stunted thier growth. I did label the pots and the only difference was these pots recieved 50% less epsom salts and they are are all cherry tomato varieties

Toms often grow curly tops when there's a big difference between day and night temperatures, and it's nothing to worry about. I would think if they've got up to 6ft tall, there can't be much wrong with the compost

                    Aminopyralid - warning and petition

I've just come across a recent video by Charles Dowding, Identify growth problems caused by aminopyralid residues in hay and horse manure. It appears to be an increasing problem - the Youtube page includes a link to a petition to ban it (which I've signed).

I'm a bit paranoid about it myself. The municipal compost we bought in recently isn't causing any problems, fortunately, but I've abandoned plans to get manure from some local stables, and am jealously hoarding the last of my potting compost till I can make enough of my own.

                    WHY is such stuff allowed??!

Sorry for bringing it up again - I did do a search on the forum first but didn't find this thread.

No need to apologise, weegie, its an ongoing problem and the more people who sign the petition the better.

New Readers - if you're confused - I merged weegie's post with this thread.
