These look good, lighter than the wider and long handled heavier versions. I do love mine to bits, but it is too wide to use as a hoe between closely planted veg, and on the heavy side for for daily use. I like my heavy one for breaking hard ground, large areas, deep roots, brambles etc. Lighter ones looks more practical for everyday use. I don't have a lighter one, so have added the spike one to my list Jay-ell

This has a hoe head narrower than an onion hoe plus spikey bits and is handy for breaking up the soil

The next one is a mini azde with an even narrower head, great for weeding those tight packed beds

Both can be used for hoeing or digging, but if I needed to use one to dig it would be the spikey one.

My favorite isn't strictly a garden tool although its pretty much the only thing i use it for. Its a spurtal (a traditional Scottish porridge stirrer) which does as a dibber, a basher -for anything that may require it- and a firmer for soil around the container brassicas etc. I also prefer pricking out seedlings using a teaspoon like a microtrowel.

Theres lots of useful sounding tools on here so I'm thinking it may be time to invest in real gardening equipment!
There are no gardening mistakes, only learning curves

No matter how big the job or overwhelming the task, a good dose of sheer obstinacy and bloody-mindedness should see you through
