So basically , yes, but it depends on the variety if they will be sweet or bitter.

Many years ago in a home brew mag a chap called something like Charles Dela-???? said send a stamped addressed envelope and he would send a hop root. I did and got one. Can't quite remember his name, any ideas.
Also the lady birds love them both the young bugs and flying ladybirds.
If I see one I pull off the leaf and pop on a tom plant in greenhouse.

If anyone you know has got a grapevine in their greenhouse they'll probably be more than happy to give you leaves. I cut acres off mine yesterday and threw it in the compost bin and next week I 'll probably have to do it again.

Yeah, I put large quantities in the compost every summer, too.
I do make use of a few when I make salt pickled cucumbers, though. A few leaves in the jar leech tannin into the brine, which is a firming agent and helps stop the cucumbers going too soft.
