  • Vegetable Spaghetti

I'm intrigued by this, has anybody eaten from this squash?
I bought a spiraliser for courgettes and other veg. The courgettes were supposed to be like veg spag but not to me. It worked for others ok, especially carrots as I find them boring in a salad if sliced or chopped whereas spiralised made it seem more interesting.

Grated purple carrots in salad looks so pretty. I don’t like the look of those spaghetti squashes with the insides looking stringy it doesn’t look right but some people grow it,you don’t know until you try

I've got an Oxo Good Grips hand-held spiraliser. Works fine with courgettes for me, though I don't have much luck with other veg. Bit too hard for me to press through. That peeler looks good, bario. I'm trying spaghetti squash this year as my experiment.

I'm hoping my trombocino squash are perfect for spiralising. But no sign of any yet

I think they will be good for spiralising as there is no seeds in the part of them that looks ideal to be spiralised

I love vegetable spaghetti. Not got any this year, they didn’t germinate .
Never used a spiraliser so couldn’t say, but I wouldn’t use one on a spaghetti squash.
Ones it’s cooked you just scrape it out of the skin with a fork. It’s the sweetest loveliest thing ever.

Here's an older thread about spiralizers :-

              https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...veg_89090.html

I've got one and use it every week to make a courgette, carrot, onion and chick pea salad.

                  Thanks for the replies,
My spiraliser is electric, £9.99 from Tesco, a bit like a mini lathe. It works ok on carrots and cougettes but a messy clean afterwards.
The spaghetti squash looks interesting so I'll get some seeds and try it

                    Grew some in late 1970s.

They were rampant. Went across 16ft garden over pile of rubble.

You cook it whole or halved and fork out the "spaghetti". Can't remember what it tasted like.

                    Might give it another try.

                      Anyone tried spiralising beetroot?
                      Cylindra is a good shape.
Might give them a go next year...

yes your right. Spaghetti squash will be no good for spiralising

It kind of turns into spaghetti on its own when cooked. Not a fan of it myself though. I found it too watery and the texture was not nice.

Might of been the variety i grew. Or they way I cooked it i guess, but neither me or my partner liked it

                        Much prefer spiralised courgette

I know you can't spiralise vegi spag, I was just saying I've tried courgettes spiralised as spaghetti and it just didn't work for me.
Anyway, seeds on the way for next year, worth a try and if not then back to Sainsburys.
